About BoraBora-island.com

A Bora Bora guide written from French Polynesia — by people who actually live there.

Who We Are

We’re tourism professionals based in French Polynesia, and we’ve been working across Tahiti and the outer islands for many years.
Our team reflects what French Polynesia actually looks like today: some of us are popaas — transplants from mainland France who chose to settle here, and who understand firsthand the questions and expectations of a traveler arriving from abroad. Others are Polynesian natives, with a knowledge of the territory, the islands, and the people that you simply can’t get from a guidebook.
That combination matters. It lets us cover Bora Bora and French Polynesia from two complementary angles: the insider who knows the local reality down to the smallest detail, and the demanding traveler’s perspective — knowing exactly what to expect, and what to watch out for, before you go.
BoraBora.fr, our original French-language site, has been running for over ten years. It’s one of the few resources on this destination that isn’t produced remotely or generated automatically. Every piece of information published here is verified, and pages are updated regularly to reflect current realities: prices, accommodations, flight connections, and local operators.

Our Editorial Approach

Our goal isn’t to sell a dream at any cost. It’s to help travelers make good decisions — before they spend several thousand dollars on a trip that isn’t right for them.
That means telling it like it is: Bora Bora is exceptional in some contexts, and disappointing in others. Not all hotels are worth the same. Some periods of the year are worth avoiding. Some excursions aren’t worth the price tag.
Our content is built on:

  • direct, firsthand knowledge of local hotels and operators
  • official data from Tahiti Tourisme (GIE) and Tahiti-Faa’a Airport
  • ongoing tracking of pricing and tourism news across French Polynesia
  • traveler feedback

Pages are updated at least once a year, and more often when significant changes call for it — a hotel opening or closing, a major pricing shift, or a change in flight connections.

Transparency on Affiliate Links

Some of the links on this site are affiliate links — mainly for accommodations and excursions.
In practice, if you book through one of these links, we earn a commission from the partner. That commission never changes the price you pay.
These partnerships don’t dictate our recommendations. We only feature hotels and operators we genuinely consider reliable — whether or not they’re affiliate partners. A property we don’t recommend stays unrecommended, even if it offers an attractive affiliate program.
