How to Get to Bora Bora
Bora Bora is an island located in the South Pacific Ocean, part of the Society Archipelago in French Polynesia. It is situated about 230 kilometers northwest of Tahiti.
To get to Bora Bora, the most common option is to take an international flight to Tahiti (Faa’a) airport and then travel from Tahiti to Bora Bora. Many flights from major cities such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, Auckland, and Paris serve Tahiti’s Faa’a International Airport.
Once in Tahiti, you need to take a domestic flight of about 50 minutes to Bora Bora Airport or use a ferry, which is a longer but more cost-effective option.
For those with higher budgets, private flight options by plane or helicopter are also available.
Bora Bora Airport is located on a motu (islet), and to reach hotels and resorts located on the main island or other motus, it is necessary to take a boat. For all hotels located on the motus, boat transfers are organized by the hotels. If you are going to the main island, domestic airlines offer free shuttles from the airport to Vaitape, the main village on the island.
If you take the ferry, you will arrive directly on the main island.
